Frequently asked questions
How is the Amendment 3 property tax estimate calculated?
Non-school tax = (assessed value − non-school exemption) × non-school millage ÷ 1,000. School tax = (assessed value − $25,000) × school millage ÷ 1,000. Exemptions: $51,411 (2026), $150,000 (2027), $250,000 (2028); $50,000 for new residents from 2027 until their fifth year.
Is this my actual tax bill?
No. It uses your county's average millage, assumes the full exemption and a constant assessed value, and excludes non-ad valorem assessments unless you enter them. Check your property appraiser's estimator for an official figure.
Where do the default millage rates come from?
2025 average total and non-school millage by county from Florida DOR data, compiled by Florida TaxWatch. School millage = total − non-school.
